 August 22, 2022

We continue to keep a steady stream of sweat running off our faces!  Lol !

We did however loose an entire month due to poison oak!  We had a standing dead ash tree fall onto one of our fields, and our first thought was one of pure joy… look at how much firewood we could harvest!

I saw some vines on the old trunk of the tree, and looked at the leaves of the vine, to make sure it wasn’t poison ivy.  The leaves looked like green oak leaves.  We worked on that tree for three days.  The forth morning, we noticed swelled mosquito bite spots on our legs, and arms.  We thought maybe some mosquitoes had invaded during the night.  During breakfast on that forth morning, we noticed some blisters forming on the mosquito bites…darn!

We tried every single home remedy we heard of, from white shoe polish dabbed on, to menthol salve dabbed on.  It was ridiculous really!

After 21 days, our nightmare was over, but I can promise y’all that that tree was tractor pushed off into the woods to rot!  Honestly, I can’t think of any worse thing to have!

Anyway… the tomatoes are done in the garden.

The sweet potato squash is looking awesome!

The Gracie beans are blooming, so we will be covered up in beans in about three weeks.

The above picture is of the Lima beans.  I have never grown limas before, so this is my maiden growing.  The lower picture above is of the Gracie beans blooming.  They are such a pretty white!

Hope y’all have a wonderful week, and close out this month with some real porch sittin, and coffee sippin!

  1. I'm so sorry to hear about your bout with poison oak! I've not seen that around here, but we have plenty of poison ivy. The only thing that helps me with that is aloe vera. I hope you got a lot of firewood for your trouble!

Your garden looks great. We didn't get green beans because I was going to plant it on our corn which was a complete fail. I'm wondering if it's too late now. I'd like to get at least some before the summer's over!

  2. Good to see you back! So sorry about the poison oak session. That must have been so annoying to deal with at the height of gardening season. Those are some healthy looking beans.
