Thank you, Leigh. We are watching the beds very carefully, because we have had so much rain. I want to make sure that we are not getting wet soil molds developing. We are however, enjoying the bounty. I just pulled the broccoli, as they were done, and have planted yellow squash and zucchini in its place. I know they are destined to out grow the trough, because my pickling cucumbers are doing that very thing. It’s all an experiment, to see what works, and what doesn’t. So far, tomatoes win the vote, but the sugar snaps peas are running a close second!
Thank you, Rain! We have an Amish community nearby, and they are very cleaver with wood! We bought the planter the first year we were here. It is a fun sight for the front porch! We purchased the water tanks from a seconds outfit, which means they may or may not hold water. We didn’t care if they held water, because we were going to grow in them. They were half the price of normal tanks, and they are perfect to keep the weeds and wire grass out! I will keep posting on the good and bad of the beds! I hope you have a wonderful week, Rain. Great to know your babies are better!
Those lilies are just plain gorgeous! And that cabbage! Too much rain???? We could sure use some. I've been a couple of hours south of here, visiting a friend, and her gardens are so very sad, as they have had even less rain than us. Despite having very little, my gardens look positively verdant compared to hers, but nothing like the amazing growth in your tanks! I am so pleased with our wild garden areas, they are blooming wall to wall with all the native flowers. The butterflies seem to be indecisive about which blooms to sample first! I am almost more pleased with those areas than I am with the gardens! I smile every time I look them over.
Oh, how I understand the enjoyment watching the indecisive butterflies! We are very much in bloom here, and in marvel of it all! The water tank beds are becoming more fun, as we go along this summer. The tomatoes are so big, and loaded with green tomatoes...just waiting for them to get a litter bigger...fried green tomatoes ! Yes! Have a fabulous week, Rosalea!
Beautiful! Your stock tank garden beds look so excellent!
