December already!

Well, I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving!  We had a quiet dinner, and invited our recently widowed neighbor.  It was a really good day!

We have been tidying up some projects at the farm.  One of the long awaited projects was taking down the old pool deck, and making a back drop rail that I could incorporate into the garden area.

After removing the old deck, we had to dig post holes to install 4x4’s for support of the back drop.

This added some decent square footage to the garden area.  We will need to mulch this area for a growing season, to add some nutrient to the soil.  I am happy to have that eyesore deck gone, and the rail turned out really cute.

Another project was using our giant pile of mulch to fill voids, and runoff areas in the fields.

These areas may still run this mulch off, but at least we gave them a fighting chance, and mowing will be less bumpy next year if it sticks!

The farm is pretty much asleep for the winter, so we have decided to head out for vacation.  

We will be on the road until the second week of March, but I will be posting about our travels while on the road!
